I heard NWMA Members, friends, and family were having a good time this year gathering at both Fern Cove, Vashon Island as well as Fisherman’s Bay, Lopez Island
Here are some shots and video shared by both myself and Ben. Ben, on Entourage, Jeff on Ruf Duck, and Shaun and I on Tri To Be Nice, raced north to Blake Island and then South back to Vashon upon our departure from Fern Cove (see link to Ben’s YouTube video below).
Fisherman’s Bay puts on an amazing community funded Fireworks show. Fireworks are set off from stations that line Bayshore Rd, the narrow section of land that connects the spit from the main island. Below are some shots from last year when Shaun and I met up and rafted with Eric and Marilyn. I loved that Eric used his dinghy to drop a stern anchor so we wouldn’t rotate during the show.
Fun fact: We both happened to be heading North on the same day, made plans to meet at Fisherman’s Bay the same day, entered Cattle Pass within minutes of each other, and sailed downwind, each on main alone next to each other from the pass to the entrance of the bay.
